“You will always be
my dream
my fantasy
my what if
and my here and now”
we met in high school
reconnected as adults
became live in lovers
we make music in the basement
Chicago based collaboration of Jenny Arrington and Josh Gilbert, Live.In.Lover creates a haunting atmospheric blend of 80s style electronica and 90s house. Their first single, “Wake Me Up All Night” was reviewed as “a banger in bellwether tones…a cautioning, a seduction. The hook is rapturous and sweet, an anthem for the end times!”
Live.In.Lover was born out of a shared desire to create songs since childhood, when they became students of music. Josh played piano, sax, and starting making beats at age 8. Jenny sang in the choir starting at age 8 and began playing sound healing instruments as an adult. They both studied music from around the world and from every genre, making connections and developing a strong sense of what they loved with a large catalog of influences.
Live.In.Lover produces songs of love gone right. They know that lyrics get stuck in the listener’s head and those repeated phrases embed a story, which colors how the listener constructs their world. They want want listeners to focus on the benefits of love rather than the heartache.
They both love Depeche Mode, James Blake, Beach House, The Japanese House, Toro Y Moi, Bjork, Prince, Tribe Called Quest, classic Chicago house, Caribou, Jai Paul, Jungle, Kaytranada, Jamie XX, Channel Tres, and Nina Simone, to name just a few.
They had both given up on their dream of producing and performing music until they reconnected. They brought out the best in each other, encouraged their shared and individual talents, then decided making music would be a fun thing to do together.
They have two kids each from previous marriages and did not want any more babies. The songs they make together are their babies. Josh produces beats and harmonies. Jenny writes the melodies and lyrics, helping out with harmonies as well. They both have learned to work in Logic pro and that learning curve is why it took 2.5 years to get their first song finished.
They hope you’ll join them on their path to creating more music. They are committed to getting the next song out in less than 2.5 months, not years this time.
